Badr Hari is the Baaaad Boy!

June 13th 2009 14:23
But most of us can’t help but like him for exactly the same reason he could also be hated.
He is a great talent and he is aware of that, he trains hard, he is a devote and proud muslim and he walks his way , he is loud, aggressive and in the same time he can also be withheld and polite, he does his things exactly how he wants and it s a big advantage for him as many other fighters are more dependant of their clubs.

After his famous win over Aerts and finally Schilt –which fight was a great idea of Showtime /or Hari himself , he did not get the FEG World Cup the year before, so they invented him one which he finally got with much applaude this year’s May. I wonder what will happen with his career in K-1 who as a japanese company do not take his last action with much ease.

And apart from that fiasko with Bonjansky, who-for some reason seems to be like Ernesto Hoost for Crocop- the name and the actual presence of Hari on a fight event means a lot more publicity, a lot more audience and finally a lot more show.

The moroccan champion is loved by so many, all around the world, he is the one who represents the freedom of decision, the one who is not prefect ,but does all his best, to become the best.

In a previous article I have read the word „antihero” dedicated to him. What I can say to this, is, that Badr doesnt take himself that seriously that some might think. And I think it s him who loves the most all the contradictions and the misunderstandings about himself all serve brilliantly to make a great publicity for all his shows. He is certainly not only a great fighter, but also have the qualities of a movie star.

As this year showtime decided somehow to take the previous work of the japanese FEG , with starting different championship-shows all around Europe, after the first stop there are news about shows in Hungary and also in Turkey where the next Badr Hari show-fight will take place and I hope to attend this event so much. I don’t think the turkish guy who he fights with means much challenge to him, but for sure we will see a great fight and a great entrance-show from him. As for the Bad Boy I love that song and also it shows a colorful and interesting young guy who wants to be there in more than one things he ’s doing. So , let’s see what happens and cheer this unique fighter, one of the most interesting talents in fighting. And i can’t help but wonder how far he can get.

MMA vs.K-1

K-1 vs. MMA

Fedor best of the best

To start with my monologue, I ’d like to make it clear , that in my opinion there is no such thing as „which is better?”
What I do think is that there are basically two types of fighters, the standup fighter (including all types of boxing) and the ground fighters (all types of wrestling based martial arts) .

You can see the basic differences between the 2 fighting styles pretty clear. Normally , as I have experienced most fighters are standup fighters , just like Crocop for example, however he fights for the MMA for many years, his strongest advantage have always been lying in the applcation of standup fighting techniques against the ground fighters, especially his kicks, high kicks, ground technique fighters are not good kickers and also not that prepared to receive them, but neverthless ground techniques will always remain the weaker side of Crocop, or ground fighers –such as Fedor who will always remain a ground fighter first of all.

MMA and mixed martial arts such as Ju Jitsu, Sambo, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to name a few, target the application of both standup and ground techniques but all have their one feature: there are the ground techniques which dominate in any of them.

Nowadays many federations would like to challenge K-1 fighters to try themselves in MMA, and versa, but it’s always very hard to adapt an entirely different fighting style, both of them requiring different physique , different training ,even different muscles.

Most fighters just can’t adapt and rather return to their normal style. There is only a few who can adapt , like Fedor one of the best examples, and Crocop in his own ways, but usually it requires long years for a fighter to be prepared to fight a different fighting style.

Badr Hari for example, had one MMA fight, one of the shortest fights ever, he was down on the ground in about 5 seconds and about 10 second later locked in, he , as a natural born standup fighter just doesnt have anything to do with ground techniques, I think I can freely say that he might never aim to go for MMA, no matter what Overeem says on their rematch.
Normally only the ones can adapt well, who start to learn both fighting styles, in the same time but also separately. For example taking up a thai boxing class, AND a ju jitsu or simply Judo class aims for reaching the very rare case, when one is almost equally good in both of them. Almost.

Remy Bonjansky , the

Badr Hari vs. Remy Bonjansky

it's definitely not the nice way how he wont the K-1 Grand Prix for 2008 , but it is proven that he is still ne of the best fighters for K-1 (also former K-1 champion ) the winning of last K-1 will always remain controversial for Remy Bonjanksy.
On the press conference for his fight against Alistair Overeem (just to mention both fighers live and train in Amsterdam as well) , Overeem 's wife handed over a false Oscar's award for Bonjansky and Overeem himself congratulated him for winning the 2008 K-1 Grand Prix, not by his skills , but his acting skills.
Anyone wh has seen his previous fight will see that Remy has indeed such an exceptionally strong skull that he even didn't fall by Mirko Crocop"s famous Koing high kicks, and to say that he has had the same affair with Bob Sapp, remaining on the ground of the fighers one -not that heavy- kick ,it will always remain a mystery what happenned on that fight of his against the moroccan fighter Badr Hari. Hari has later stated in his interviews that he had become angry and was sure that Remy is acting because he heard that Remy's corner has shouted him to stay down. The champion stated double vision due to Hari's kick in his face, it's a symptom which can only hardly be seen by any doctors especially in a ring. Later on he has reacted that it's bad for him to win the K-1 this way, and finally could prove his fighting skills against Overeem this year with a win, the question is if he will ever defeat Hari again.

TITO OR THE PRETTY BOY?

September 6th 2006 00:21
The biggest mainstream boxing star outside of Mike Tyson, Oscar De La Hoya, has decided he will resume his boxing career inside the ring, on March 5 of next year. The “Golden Boy” has revealed he will face one of a possible two opponents, a rematch with Trinidad, or a fight against pound for pound superstar, Floyd Mayweather Jnr.

The Trinidad rematch brings about a chance of redemption for Oscar. It also brings about an opportunity to eradicate the absurd “chicken” moniker labeled upon him in reference to his coasting of the championship rounds in their first bout. Many boxing fans and media alike believe that Oscar is already one up on Tito, though success in a rematch would remove any bitterness or controversy that may still linger

Former 140 pound king, Kostya Tszyu hasn’t fought in nearly 2 years now, though the Russian born fighter has not officially retired. At 36 years of age, the man has provided many thrills in the square ring, but as the old saying goes, time waits for no man.

After the Hatton bout, my immediate thoughts were for Tszyu to rematch Hatton in the States, with an officiator like Jay Nady, who would hinder any form of standing Brazilian Jujitsu. Not to take anything away from Ricky’s achievement, but the fight was an ugly one
